Short Breaks
Head For Adventure provides short breaks for children and young adults with brain injury or other disabilities which make mainstream provision unsuitable. Whether it's for two days or two weeks, our adventurers are guaranteed a residential short break full of exciting outdoor activities, idyllic venues and healthy home-cooked food. We offer a personal, friendly and supportive environment which allows clients to challenge themselves and discover what they can do. Our philosophy is that nothing is unachievable and we will do everything in our power to make that dream adventure a reality.
Our short breaks are provided with a high staff to client ratio which ensures that the client's individual needs are met and everyone stays safe. Although 24-hour support is on hand, clients are always welcome to bring along parents or carers if they wish (or if they require specific help with personal care). We don't charge any extra fees for this, but there may be a small charge to cover costs
Aside from offering an exciting adventure holiday for the client, our short breaks also provide invaluable time out for the family or care team. It can also provide case managers and other professionals with a valuable insight into how the client copes away from the home environment. We explore a wide range of skills and activities, and not just the outdoor ones! Even just discussing an idea for the trip requires planning, organisation, goal setting and communication skills, and these are all things we encourage the client to get involved with. Once we are away there will be the opportunity to develop activities of daily living, such as menu planning, budgeting, shopping, cooking, social skills and so on.
Our short breaks can be provided on an individual, paired or small group basis. For more details follow the links on the left.
